BOOK CLUBS

The Women’s Club of Greater Lakeway current offers 24 Special Interest Groups — affectionately called "SIGs" — eight of which are book clubs. You must first become a member of WCGL to participate in any SIG.

Book clubs are always popular, and some of them are at capacity.
For information or to sign up, please call or e-mail any of the chairmen listed below. If a group is full, please ask the chairs if there is a wait list.

If you would like to share ideas for starting a new book club, or if you have any questions, please phone or e-mail Carole Dann 2nd Vice President, at 949-351-0486. See our other special interest groups on the SIG News page.

Life Enrichment

The Lilfe Enrichment Book Club is a unique and one of a kind club.  We discuss topics that empower and encourage us, yet still educate and stimulate our minds.  This year we are changing the format up a bit and are discussing topics of interest to the group and having an open panel discussion about the various topics.  We will not be reading books per se this year.  We will be discussing topics such as miracles, friendships, self-esteem, and many others that the group deems worth to discuss.

The Life Enrichment Book Club meets the second Monday of each month, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., September until May, in various homes.   For this year only, our first meeting will not be until October.  We are currently full, but can take names of those interested in joining as spots open up.

The months of November and December are different because of the holidays. We break for the summer in the months of June, July and August. During our meetings, we enjoy our discussions and share a glass of wine and snacks. We are currently at capacity but do maintain a waiting list.

Our next meeting will be September27.   The book for September is Mary by Janis Cooke Newman.

Wine and Words

Wine and Words selects books of all categories. While most of our selections are fiction, we try to have at least one that is nonfiction, one biography and one classic each year. The others are suggestions by our members or through research, which makes the list nicely balanced.

We typically meet the third Thursday of the month in member’s homes or we explore new restaurants in the area. The format typically consists of appetizers, desserts and appropriate wine selections.

At this time, Wine and Words is closed. For more information:
